School visits

Our education team offer waste and recycling education sessions free of charge to all schools across Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham. These teach the basic principles of the 3Rs (reduce, re-use and recycle) and can be adapted to any age group. Please contact our education team to discuss your session.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we are currently rethinking how we perform our sessions so that social distancing measures can be implemented. As the majority of pupils are still not in school, we have suspended our sessions for the time being. This will be updated per government advice and advice from our Health and Safety team.

Virtual sessions

We are however able to offer digital/virtual sessions to your learners at home or in school. These can be presentations or a Question and Answer sessions. Please get in touch and we will try our best to accommodate you and your class.

It’s a Rubbish Adventure!

It’s a Rubbish Adventure! is a fun interactive workshop which helps explain modern waste management in a fast-paced and engaging way. We aim the workshop at Key Stage 2 pupils. The workshop uses scientific techniques and concepts such as:

  • sieving
  • air movement
  • magnets

The workshop can take place in our visitors’ centre or at your school, providing you have a large space such as a hall or sports hall.

We limit the workshops to 30 or a full class at a time due to space restrictions. If your pupils are not Key Stage 2 please get in touch to discuss your requirements. Please allow 90 minutes for each workshop plus an hour to setup and takedown the equipment and 30 minutes to re-set the workshop between classes.

All bookings will be provisional until you return your school booking agreement.

Wherever possible we will endeavour to make arrangements to suit your requirements. This may not always be possible as we are an operational site.
