Community talks

The community education team at BDR Waste Treatment Facility offer a series of educational talks on different aspects of waste and recycling that can be delivered to community groups.

These talks are aimed at adults, please see our education page for content more aimed at young people.

The average UK family could save approximately £1,000 per year by reducing food waste. This talk highlights the impact of food waste on the environment and provides practical tips from the national Love Food Hate Waste campaign to help reduce food waste at home.

Waste contains valuable resources that can be recovered through recycling. This talk provides insight into what materials are accepted for recycling in the local area and what happens to them after kerbside collection.

The fashion industry and consumer habits contribute significantly to waste and environmental impact. This informative, fun session explains the environmental impacts of the clothes we buy, wear and throw away whilst sharing some tips on how you can reduce your impact and practical steps to take to make your clothes last longer.

E-waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams. In this exciting new talk, we will guide you through the world of electronics waste from the materials involved in making our gadgets, their use, disposal and the impacts this has on the environment along with some ideas to take away to help you clear out your old gadgets and keep your current ones in use as long as possible.

At Your Venue

All community talks are free of charge for groups in Barnsley, Doncaster, and Rotherham. To book talk at your venue, please complete the booking form, and a team member will be in touch as soon as possible.

Please note that all bookings remain provisional until confirmation is received from a team member.
