Community Liaison Group

Keeping the local community up to date with what’s happening on this project is a key priority for the BDR Waste Partnership. At the start we held regular local consultation events and community drop-in information sessions were held, newsletters issued, and the website developed and regularly updated.

A Community Liaison Group (CLG) was then established in 2011 to create a regular communication channel between local communities and the contract team which has continued ever since.

Remit of the group

The purpose of the independent group is to ensure a regular communication channel between local communities and the management teams both from the BDR Waste Partnership, the Council partnership, and the facility itself.

Who represents you?

The group is made up of members of the public who have expressed an interest in the waste treatment facility at Manvers, and local councillors. The conditions of the group allow it to have 12 public members and three councillors, one each from Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham.

If you have an issue you would like to have raised at the Community Liaison Group (CLG) this can be done through any representative of the CLG or by contacting the waste treatment facility via bdr.enquiries@renewi.com

What being a member entails

The independent group meets twice a year at the BDR Waste Treatment Facility Visitor Centre. Members represent their community in a two-way dialogue. The meeting is also attended by a member of the BDR Waste Partnership contract team and staff from the BDR Waste Treatment Facility to share information about the contract and facility and answer questions from group members or members of the public.

How to get involved
